The St. John’s Winter Beer Fest & Record Show Starts Today!

When I started out as a writer, freelancing at City Pages in Minneapolis, I was knee-deep in the indie rock music scene. For a whole year I was paid to write about and photograph live shows that I didn’t have to pay for. Life was good!
Flash forward to the current day where I find myself writing and photographing the Portland craft beer scene – and maybe more like “up to my neck” this time.
So when I heard that this year’s edition of the St. John’s Winter Beer Fest will not only feature great winter beers from local brewers BUT ALSO 18 record vendors, I immediately realized where I’ll be spending time this weekend!
The 8th edition of what has become a St. John’s institution, now dubbed The St. John’s Winter Beer Fest and Record Show (<–tickets), starts this afternoon at 2pm and runs through Sunday.
The entire event is a benefit for the St. Johns Center for Opportunity (SJCO). From the farmers market, community clothing closet, storefront improvement grants to advocating for affordable housing and services, SJCO is an important asset in to the St. Johns community.
All the additional info including featured breweries, times, and location are listed below.
The beer side of festival will feature an impressive array of Winter Ales, IPAs, Barleywines, Stouts, and Ciders from over 30 breweries and cideries including pFriem Family Brewers, Fremont Brewing, Block 15, Gigantic, Upright Brewing, Logsdon, Ecliptic, Fort George Brewing, Base Camp, Swift, and Lompoc. Taps will be flowing in the beautiful main ballroom of The Colony (7525 N Richmond Ave. Portland, Oregon 97203) at the following times: Friday and Saturday from 2 ’til 10pm, Sunday from 2 ’til 6pm.
